Power Electronics Engineer

Stockholm, Sweden

About the Role

As a Power Electronics Engineer at Ailit, you will own the high-voltage power architecture for our modular battery systems used in freight rail. You will design and prototype the DC power path that connects supplier-tested battery modules to locomotives and charging infrastructure via our containerized energy platform.

Your work spans high-power DC systems, protection and isolation, thermal management, and interfaces to rail vehicles and grid-connected charging. This role focuses on building a robust, serviceable, safety-critical industrial system, not research or simulations that never leave the lab.

What You’ll Do

  • Design ultra high-voltage DC systems for battery energy storage and rail traction integration.
  • Own DC/DC conversion, protection, isolation, grounding, and fault handling strategies.
  • Define electrical interfaces between battery modules, containerized packs, locomotives, and charging equipment.
  • Work closely with mechanical and embedded software teams to integrate power electronics, cooling, and control logic.
  • Support prototype builds, instrumentation, bring-up, and fault analysis.
  • Specify components and suppliers with reliability, serviceability, and North American rail requirements in mind.
  • Contribute to safety architecture and test planning in collaboration with validation and regulatory functions.

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience designing high-power electrical systems in rail, heavy machinery, EVs, mining equipment, or industrial energy systems.
  • Are comfortable working with MW-scale power, HV safety concepts, and fault-tolerant designs.
  • Have operated in regulated or safety-critical environments and understand design tradeoffs beyond nominal performance.
  • Prefer building systems that are robust and maintainable over clever but fragile designs.
  • Enjoy working hands-on with hardware through prototype, test, and early field deployment.

About us

Ailit is building modular battery systems for freight rail, enabling operators to reduce diesel consumption without changing train operations. We integrate batteries with our own power electronics, control software, and rail interfaces, assembling and operating the AI optimized energy systems for deployment in North America and other heavy-haul markets.

We are building the company with a strong focus on disciplined execution, technical depth, and long-term impact in critical industrial infrastructure.
